This morning I was contacting future interviewees. One 85 year old gentleman spoke to me of Rudolf Hess being imprisoned in Trent Park. I have heard this before and I have also heard that it was not true. So there is still a mystery of whether Hess was in Trent Park or not. According to the elderly interviewee, a telephone engineer he knew, was at Trent Park during the war. This worker spoke of being forced to stay the night in the mansion as the army forbad anyone leaving in the dark. One can only imagine what his job was given how integral telephones were to the mechanics of listening in to the POWs. It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to get living memories from those who lived in the area and who convey the atmosphere of their experience.
